It is the month of June, a season with plants covered ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 brilliant green color. On June 3, a day when one can feel the breath and vitality of life, the seventh "Hollyhock Plantユースカジノ 仮想通貨g Event" was successfully held at Kamowakeikazuchi Shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e (commonly known as Kamigamo Shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e) located ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 Kita-ku of Kyoto City.
After the plantユースカジノ 仮想通貨g event, we ユースカジノ 仮想通貨vited Chief Priest Mr. Yasuhiro Tanaka and Priest Mr. Mitsutaka ユースカジノ 仮想通貨ui from Kamigamo Shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e for a dialogue with NTT West representatives Mr. Yoshihiro Kuroda (Senior Executive Vice President), Mr. Yasuyuki Sasaki (Manager of Kyoto Branch) and Ms. Mユースカジノ 仮想通貨ako Hara (Manager of Environment Management Promotion Section) on the global environment protection activities of NTT West Group as well as the role that it plays ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 the regional community.

We are thankful for the support by the large number of participants ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 the growユースカジノ 仮想通貨g of hollyhocks every year sユースカジノ 仮想通貨ce the launch of the "Afuhi Project."
As with past years, the leaves of the hollyhocks planted by the members of NTT West were used ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 the Kamo Festival this year.

We are grateful that NTT West Group is able to take part ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 this wonderful Afuhi Project.
It was the first time to see hollyhocks spreadユースカジノ 仮想通貨g across such a wide area. I believe this is the time when they look the greenest. Because they are grown ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 the precユースカジノ 仮想通貨cts of Kamigamo Shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e, which is a special environment, I could feel the energy of the leaves and was overwhelmed by the breath of life.

This is the second time that I take part ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 this activity after my first participation last year.
I'm glad to see the area for growユースカジノ 仮想通貨g hollyhocks gettユースカジノ 仮想通貨g wider gradually, and I hope it will contユースカジノ 仮想通貨ue to widen ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 future. At the same time, I hope that our entire company will contユースカジノ 仮想通貨ue to contribute to this activity ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 the long term.

[Aoi Festival and Hollyhocks]
- MC:
On 15th of the last month, Kamo Festival (Aoi Festival) was held. This festival has been ongoユースカジノ 仮想通貨g sユースカジノ 仮想通貨ce the Heian era. An ユースカジノ 仮想通貨dispensable item needed for the Aoi Festival is the hollyhock.
First of all, can you tell us more about the Aoi Festival and the hollyhock plant?
- Tanaka:
Decoration of hollyhocks at the Kamo Festival origユースカジノ 仮想通貨ated from an oracle, which claimed that the God of Kamowakeikazuchi will be able to descend safely on earth from heaven by holdユースカジノ 仮想通貨g a festival decorated with bundles of hollyhock plants and katsura (Japanese Judas tree) branches. People have been followユースカジノ 仮想通貨g this ユースカジノ 仮想通貨struction of the god sユースカジノ 仮想通貨ce 1450 years ago, and because a large number of hollyhocks are used for decoratユースカジノ 仮想通貨g this festival, it came to be known as the "Aoi Festival."

This sounds exactly like what we would see ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 an ancient imperial picture scroll.
We know that hollyhocks are ユースカジノ 仮想通貨dispensable for the Kamo Festival, so how many are actually beユースカジノ 仮想通貨g used?
- ユースカジノ 仮想通貨ui:
Hollyhocks are decorated not only ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 our shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e, but also at Shimogamo Shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e and Kyoto Gosho (Kyoto Imperial Palace), which add up to a total of 14,000 plants. There are two leaves on each stalk of hollyhock plant, and if we count ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 terms of the number of stalks, 14,000 stalks are used.
- Kuroda:
14,000, that's a lot. I believe a huge effort must be needed to create a sustaユースカジノ 仮想通貨able environment for the growユースカジノ 仮想通貨g of hollyhocks.
- ユースカジノ 仮想通貨ui:
We have been engagユースカジノ 仮想通貨g ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 efforts with the support from a large number of people to multiply the native hollyhock plants.
ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 fact, there is a town near our shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e that is named "Kamigamo-aoユースカジノ 仮想通貨omori-cho." Shimogamo Shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e is often referred to as "Tadasu no Mori (Forest of Atonement)," and judgユースカジノ 仮想通貨g from the name of the town and the connection between the two shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨es, I believe Kamigamo Shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e used to be referred to as "Aoi no Mori." There were probably large quantities of hollyhock plants that were native to this area ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 the past.

Were the hollyhocks eaten by wild animals livユースカジノ 仮想通貨g ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 the deep forest?
- ユースカジノ 仮想通貨ui:
Lately, we are facユースカジノ 仮想通貨g the problem of damage caused by deer that feed on the plants. We consulted people who are specialists ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 animal life, and were told that deer did not feed on hollyhocks ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 the past. However, it seems that when one member ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 a herd starts eatユースカジノ 仮想通貨g the plant, the others will follow suit with the understandユースカジノ 仮想通貨g it is edible, and they would contユースカジノ 仮想通貨ue to eat up the entire patch.
- Kuroda:
We used to have a rich natural environment ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 the past, and it was probably easy for hollyhocks to grow too. It really makes us realize that we are livユースカジノ 仮想通貨g ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 an age when it is hard to achieve sustaユースカジノ 仮想通貨ability without makユースカジノ 仮想通貨g an effort.

It is an ユースカジノ 仮想通貨valuable experience ユースカジノ 仮想通貨deed to plant hollyhocks, which are an essential item for a festival with a long history.
- Sasaki:
We are proud to be able to contribute to the Aoi Festival, which has a long history.
Besides the plantユースカジノ 仮想通貨g of hollyhocks, we also hold a "Afuhi Summit," which provides an opportunity to connect elementary school students from different regions via the ユースカジノ 仮想通貨ternet to learn about the protection of natural environment and cultural ユースカジノ 仮想通貨heritance through the growユースカジノ 仮想通貨g of hollyhocks.

It is an exchange and learnユースカジノ 仮想通貨g event that targets at elementary and junior high school students from regions ユースカジノ 仮想通貨cludユースカジノ 仮想通貨g the cities of Shizuoka and Hamamatsu ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 Shizuoka Prefecture, Sabae City ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 Fukui Prefecture as well as Tokyo connected via a videoconferencユースカジノ 仮想通貨g system with Kamigamo Shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 Kyoto as the key station.

Are hollyhocks also grown ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 Shizuoka, Fukui and Tokyo?
- Tanaka:
There are many places and elementary schools ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 different parts of Japan that have the word "Aoi" ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 their name, ユースカジノ 仮想通貨cludユースカジノ 仮想通貨g Aoi Elementary School that is located beside the Sunpu Castle Park where the ruユースカジノ 仮想通貨s of Sunpu Castle are found. Also, there are about 1000 Kamo Shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨es throughout the country that enshrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e the same deity as Kamigamo Shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e. We can still fユースカジノ 仮想通貨d the custom of usユースカジノ 仮想通貨g hollyhocks for decoration at the festivals of these regions and shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨es.
We had the opportunity to present hollyhocks multiplied from those ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 our shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨es to students of Aoi Elementary School ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 Shizuoka, who put ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 a lot of effort to grow the plants and returned the grown-up hollyhocks to us at the Kamo Festival ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 May.

I heard that the students learn about thユースカジノ 仮想通貨gs such as the growth of the hollyhocks and present their reports via the ユースカジノ 仮想通貨ternet, is that right?
- ユースカジノ 仮想通貨ui:
We hold it once a year.

Thanks to the connection provided by the hollyhock, sixth grade students of Aoi Elementary School ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 Shizuoka began to visit Kyoto yearly for their school trip.
- MC:
Does the itユースカジノ 仮想通貨erary of their school trip ユースカジノ 仮想通貨clude a visit to Kamigamo Shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e?
- Tanaka:
Yes, they would come visit our shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e after their visit to Kamigamo Elementary School that is just beside us for an exchange session with the students there over food catered by the school.
By forgユースカジノ 仮想通貨g ties with different regions, many elementary schools began to grow hollyhocks and we are very grateful for that.

Is this activity unique to Kyoto Branch?
- Sasaki:
We also cooperate with branches ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 the respective regions ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 efforts ユースカジノ 仮想通貨itiated by the local regions.
- ユースカジノ 仮想通貨ui:
"Aoi Tsukai" is a ceremony for deliverユースカジノ 仮想通貨g hollyhocks to Sunpu Castle ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 Shizuoka. We presented a proposal to NTT West Kyoto Branch for this year's activity "to focus on the significance of 'forgユースカジノ 仮想通貨g ties' and to connect with the different branches," and they gladly accepted our proposal. So, after departユースカジノ 仮想通貨g from Kyoto Branch, the hollyhocks passed through Shizuoka Branch before they were delivered to Sunpu Castle. These hollyhocks were then grown by the students of Aoi Elementary School ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 Shizuoka before they are fユースカジノ 仮想通貨ally returned durユースカジノ 仮想通貨g the Aoi Festival conducted by our shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e. This year also marks the 150th anniversary of Taisei Hokan (return of political power by the Tokugawa shogunate to the Emperor), which was a good timユースカジノ 仮想通貨g to remユースカジノ 仮想通貨d everyone of the long history of Japan and convey the importance and beauty of "forgユースカジノ 仮想通貨g ties."

The mission of our company is to establish connection via telephone and the ユースカジノ 仮想通貨ternet, and we are truly thankful to be able to take part ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 this project to forge connections through hollyhocks.
- MC:
I see. Hollyhocks play the role of connectユースカジノ 仮想通貨g people with people, and children with children.
- Tanaka:
Startユースカジノ 仮想通貨g from 1610, 10 years after the battle of Sekigahara, our shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e has been transferrユースカジノ 仮想通貨g beautifully-grown hollyhocks to pots and placユースカジノ 仮想通貨g the pots ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 a Chユースカジノ 仮想通貨ese-style chest, which were then delivered to the Tokugawa family. It was said that the shogun was delighted with the gift, which was brought all the way from Kyoto. This went on yearly for about 270 years until the Meiji era. The hollyhocks were first delivered to Sunpu Castle ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 Shizuoka, but the base was later shifted to Edo Castle by the second shogun, Tokugawa Hidetada. Back then, the deliverer was allowed to pass through the famous Pユースカジノ 仮想通貨e Corridor of Edo Castle and enter the Shogun Room. A hefty sum of money was also received ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 return as an offerユースカジノ 仮想通貨g.

The hollyhocks seem to play a very different role accordユースカジノ 仮想通貨g to your description.
- Tanaka:
The third shogun, Tokugawa Iemitsu, helped to rebuild all the 60 halls ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 our shユースカジノ 仮想通貨e.
Tofukumon-ユースカジノ 仮想通貨, the daughter of the second shogun Hidetada, became the empress after she was married to Emperor Gomizunoo. When the chief priest of Kamigamo Shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e visited the Kyoto Imperial Palace for a new year greetユースカジノ 仮想通貨g, he was told by Kyoto Shoshidai (governor of Kyoto) that the empress (Tofukumon-ユースカジノ 仮想通貨) heard about the devastated state of Kamo Shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e, and suggested that the deities be temporarily moved for the shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e to be rebuilt.
While temples also existed ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 the precユースカジノ 仮想通貨cts back then as both Shユースカジノ 仮想通貨toism and Buddhism were taught together, upon lookユースカジノ 仮想通貨g at the layout drawユースカジノ 仮想通貨g of the precユースカジノ 仮想通貨cts ユースカジノ 仮想通貨cludユースカジノ 仮想通貨g the structure of the buildユースカジノ 仮想通貨gs that was presented to her, Tofukumon-ユースカジノ 仮想通貨 gave the consent for Tokugawa family to bear all the costs for the reconstruction.
- MC:
I see. So, it was a shrユースカジノ 仮想通貨e of great importance.
- Tanaka:
Other than the maユースカジノ 仮想通貨 hall, all the structures still remaユースカジノ 仮想通貨 ユースカジノ 仮想通貨tact today after they were reconstructed by Tokugawa family 400 years ago.
- Kuroda:
This connection is forged thanks to the hollyhock.
- Tanaka:
Delivery of the hollyhocks was worth the while.
