On May 28, 2018 (Monday), NTT West Mie Group held the 11th round of the forest protection activity in "カジマル ユースカジノ (Bright Forest)."
"カジマル ユースカジノ" is a city-owned forest located at the foot of Aoyama Highland in the Muro-Akame-Aoyama Quasi-National Park in Mie Prefecture. Ever since the signing of the five-year plan agreement with Mie Prefecture in 2011 to maintain the forest, we have been engaging in efforts to develop and protect the forest through activities such as tree thinning.
カジマル ユースカジノ uncertain at first whether the event could be held as rain was forecast on this day, but weather turned out to be mild and ideal for outdoor activities. A total of 37 participants who are current and retired employees of Mie Group spent a meaningful day in a friendly atmosphere as they took part in the thinning work as well as woodworking class while enjoying the refreshing air of the forest.
Tree thinning work was performed in a forest of Japanese cypress trees under the guidance of members from Chusei Forest Owners' Cooperative Forest Maintenance Section and Tsu City Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Department, Forestry Promotion Office. They first cut a slit using a saw and tied a rope around the tree to pull it down with the combined strength of カジマル ユースカジノ, although there were cases where they had difficulty getting the tree to fall in the desired direction.
Participants were sweating slightly from the work but many seemed to have felt the joy of forest bathing as they enjoyed the scent emitted from the forest and the stump of the trees that were cut down. Also, カジマル ユースカジノ that were cut down during the thinning activities were sliced into thin pieces by members of the Forest Owners' Cooperative and many participants brought them home as a souvenir.
At the woodworking class, a woodwork kit was prepared by the Forest Owners' Cooperative for making chopsticks, chairs and book shelves. The participants relived their childhood as they engaged enthusiastically in making their craftwork. With the participants' laughter echoing through the "カジマル ユースカジノ," we believe they are feeling hopeful about the future of the forest protection activities.
カジマル ユースカジノ Group will work together with the local community and continue to engage in the forest protection activities.
